FMFM sending out extension # as caller id

All of a sudden when one extension calls another extension that has FMFM activated the extension is # is the outbound caller id of the call to the cellphone. This is often marked as spam by the wireless carriers. For years this scenario would send out the caller id of the outbound route being used. Any thoughts on why this is happening? V14 FreePBX

“All of a sudden” when? After an update, a configuration change, a reboot, etc? Can you find an example call in the verbose logs?

I believe it was an update. I tested and called internal. Call then was sent to a cellphone with the caller id being my extension number. See logfiles below:

x212 has FMFM activated. I was calling from x223

This is not normal I would assume. I even went to the outbound route and set the override extension CID to yes and it still sent the extension number to the cellphone on a FMFM call. Perhaps a bug? I tried backing down the follow me module and ring group module but it continues to send out the extension number as the caller id.

Is this number defined as a local extension? (perhaps a custom extension) Or is it getting directed straight to an outbound route?

That is interesting. It is set in the follow me list with a # which should note it as an external number yes?

Yes, but if it’s also a local extension it will pick that first.

I can not find any location where it is a local extension

What do you have for these? Check the tool tips and see if you need to change them.

I have it set as you do. when I set it to fixed CID it corrects the CID for local extensions but when an external caller uses the FMFM then their CID is overwritten

This is normal if your outbound route is identified as an “inter-company” route. These do not adjust the CID so that your extension structure can be spread over several servers in disparate locations.

That does make sense. I checked and the system only has a single outbound route and intra-company is not chosen. Perhaps I’ll delete the outbound route and recreate.
