I have an extension whose handset mic is not working. I have swapped handsets, swapped handset cords, swapped entire phone, deleted the extension and recreated, manually deleted the extension configuration files. It is not a hardware issue. Somewhere there is apparently a config file that I am not finding that has muted the mic. I have set up dozens of FreePBX systems and hundreds of extensions and never had a weird issue like this. Anyone else?
Details: FreePBX 16, Multiple Sangoma S705 phones. All phones set up on another extension work perfectly. For what it’s worth, the extension is 314.
Are you using Endpoint Manager to configure the S705? I know you can control the volume of the handset in the template. I remember having to change the default, because it was really quiet, so I increased the db level and that made the handset useful on the s705s.
Had a similar issue once with a Sangoma handset, and it turned out not to be the mic itself but either the cable or provisioning profile. I’d start by swapping the handset and cord with a known working one. If that doesn’t fix it, checking firmware and re-provisioning the extension usually helps narrow it down.
