Distinctive ringtone

Hi all,

We would like to have distinctive ringtones for internal and external calls.
At this moment we have specified in the alert info box of the inbound route.

However, a lot of people are having a hard time to hear the actual difference between the external and internal ringtones.

Is there something else we could do to create a complete different ring tone and not only a different cadence and link it only to external or internal calls ?

We use FreePBX 2.9.0.7 with Aastra 6753i phones.

Thanks,
Robert.

The Aastra phones support Bellcore distinctive ringing. On any freepbx configuration screen that has the “Alert Info” box you can enter the distinctive ring command:

<Bellcore-dr3>

the “3” can be any number between 1 and 4, each one giving a different distinctive ring.

The format is critical. You must use the Greater than and Less than signs, capitalization, etc. to make this work.

I have Grandstream phones. In FreeBPX for the inbound route I have an

Alert Info: http://127.0.0.1;info=Mycustom

Then on the advanced settings on the phone I have Distinctive Ring Tone: Custom ring tone 2, used if incoming caller ID is Mycustom

It gives me a TOTALLY different sound.

In my case I’m using it to differentiate between DIDs but I think it would work on internal/external as well.
