Directory module and text to speach

I am doing a research and development install of the new “FreePBX Distro”. I have asterisk-flite 1.8 installed. I added a dial by name directory and set the extensions to “text to speech”.

It’s not working. It reads back the letters to me but doesn’t use flite to announce the name.

What do I need to add or change to make asterisk-flite actually work for the “Dial by Name” directory?

I had the same question…and have not yet downloaded it, but as I understand, something like Cepstral (http://www.cepstral.com/downloads/) is what would work.

Cepstral is just a better quality text to speech. The directory module does not support text to speech.

If the users have recorded their names in voice mail that is also used for the directory.
