Is there any way to create a custom basefile from scratch in endpoint manager without using the basefile editor to put in all 175 lines one at a time? ie. base it on a text file with a couple variables inserted?
Nope. That’s not how the EPM works. A single template can hold config variations for ALL the phones in that brand. So you could create a Polycom template and have configs for VVX400, VVX500, VVX600 all in the same template. You just pick which phone you want to configure things for.\
There is no free form update/add tool that lets you just throw an XML/config file in a textarea field and save it. You want to make custom templates in the EPM, you’ll need to follow it’s logic.
