Hi!
I looking for a complete files to set CISCO CP-8851 as SIP endpoint and make it able to register in freePBX
Would someone be so kind as to share the files to configure CISCO CP-8851 as a sip peer in freePBX?
I would be very grateful.
It depends on what firmware/license the phone has.
These phones can run the following firmware:
Enterprise. Phones running the original firmware on the phone that are licensed for Enterprise firmware do NOT have “3PCC” in their model number on the bottom of the phone.
Unrestricted MPP. Phones running the original firmware on the phone that are licensed for Multiprotocol firmware have “3PCC” in their phone model number.
Restricted MPP. Phones running MPP firmware that is restricted will boot up asking for a code to be entered in the phone, or, if connected to the Internet, will attempt to reach out to whatever cloud based PBX the phone was restricted to. Mainly, this is probably going to be Cisco Webex Calling or Cisco Cloud Calling (the same thing, Cisco just changed the name)
There is a license token/file that is written to the phone’s flash ram which permits one of these 3 firmwares to run on the phone. Phones that started out life as Enterprise phones can be flashed to MPP, and phones that started out life as MPP can be flashed to Enterprise so the model# on the bottom of the phone is not a guarantee of anything. Pressing the Info button on the phone (the button with a gear on it) should show the firmware load if it has MPP in it then it’s either unrestricted or restricted MPP
Unrestricted MPP can be configured either by the phone tftping an XML config file, or by logging into the phone’s webinterface.
Restricted MPP can only be configured by the phone getting on the Internet and reaching it’s cloud PBX
Enterprise can only be configured via XML config file the phone TFTPs.
The XML file is different for Enterprise vs MPP/3PCC firmware so you have to tell us which firmware your phone is running.
Enterprise cannot configure BLF keys on FreePBX using chan_pjsip or paging. But everything else works.
There are some barcodes on the back of the phone. The second one down starts with PID VID. Does it show CP-8851-3PCC-K9, or is it just CP-8851-K9? If it doesn’t have 3PCC in the part number, it’s not MPP (as stated above). MPP phones are easier to set up in FreePBX, in my opinion.
Not so fast - it’s possible for Enterprise phones to be updated to 3PCC and 3PPC to be “updated” to Enterprise.
Safest is with phone powered, press the gear symbol button, select phone information, then look at Active Load. It will say something like “sip8851_65.12-8-1-0101-482” if it’s Enterprise or something like “sip8851_65.12-0-7-MPP001-46” if it’s the 3PCC firmware
Yes, that’s fair. It’s possible that the firmware was converted and the part number doesn’t match.
