I changed the Cisco 7912 FW to SIP FW. I can make calls to other extensions from SP7912 but cannot receive call to it. In the “Asterisk info → Peers” the SP7912s’ extension shows as offline. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m very new to FreePBX so when you’re replying, please explain it in details. Thanks a bunch in advance.
Are you talking about the Cisco 7912 Unified IP Phone- CP-7912G-A ?
This phone is a rather odd bird. It is one of the earliest phones Cisco released and most specimens shipped with sccp firmware. That firmware was configured by binary provisioning files which started out as ASCII templates then you ran a program from Cisco that turned them into binary files. All of that rubbish got swept away with newer firmware from Cisco which changed from sccp to SIP and, apparently, made it so you provisioned the phone via it’s webinterface. Or could do so. As well as, apparently, use a provisioning file if you wanted to.
Your going to have to explain how you are provisioning this phone. This isn’t a “new to FreePBX” thing, this is a “new to provisioning antique Cisco phones” thing. And the 79x2 series is even older than the models that use SIP files which predate the modern SEPMAC provisioning file scheme Cisco uses.
Your phone is more akin to an old Linksys SPA phone than a newer Cisco enterprise phone.
Hi, this is 7912G but I was able to get it registered. Somehow, when changing to from SCCP to SIP, the “SIPRegOn” flag was still set to “0” even though I have set it to “1”, I was able to change it from the 7912s web GUI and it got registered right away.
