I have an inbound route that I want to directly forward to a mobile device. Using another post, I got it working by using a custom destination with “from-internal,nnnnnnnnnn,1”. The n’s of course being replace with the mobile number. It works however the CID shows the main number on the trunk. Ideally I would like the CID to show a different number that is part of the system. Is there anyway to override the caller ID for this scenario?
Are you sure it isn’t your provider that is overriding the caller ID. These days that would be the default procedure, as the ability to send arbitrary caller ID has been abused by criminals and phone spammers.
I’m not trying to keep the original CID because I do know that won’t work. My provider will reject it if the CID isn’t one of the numbers in my trunk. But what I asking is if I can pick which CID is used for the external forward as I want to use one of the other numbers in the trunk other than my main/default one.
