Can I install freePBX on a machine that already run Asterisk

Can I install freePBX on a machine that already run an active barebone Asterisk with more then 50 users with out causing any mess?

What are the install steps? where can I find them for a not from scrach install

depends on what LINUX you are runinng
if you are running anything other than Centos / FC you got a lot work to get it right.
everything you need is here…

http://www.aussievoip.com/wiki/freePBX

Now I have .tar installs as well which can do it all for you…

BUT as this is a LIVE I am going to say do all by hand so you know what is happening…

I can give the script and you can just do it by hand.

Can you send me this script? Thanks

Yes with some planning
BAckup ALL of your conf files…
when u install it you will have to go in a create all your exten and so in freepbx…it will not pickup the current config

Freepbx creates conf files You hand edit only the _custom or the in same cases the standard .conf files

Freepbx stores the data in MYsql and pull it out to “create” the _additional.conf files.

Understand that not everything which can done it Raw Asterisk can be reproduced in the GUI…

But there are things the GUI gives you RAW does not.

Me I would build a second box (even VMware) as close to the current box
dump the current setup on the dev box install Freepbx and depends

and play with it and get it “working” on tghe dev box then go do the live box…

so make a good backup (check that you can restore it)
then have fun. we will be here when u need the help…
