Caller ID route priority

Just wondered why it is if I provide a caller ID number only in a inbound route it has no effect unless I tick ‘CID Priority Route’. Why not just make it if a caller ID is provided that would have the priority, seems a waste to have the CID Priority Route option. I’m sure someone will point out why ?!

A call can be routed by either CID or DID and the check box allows the user to configure which one gets priority.

That make sense, I think I was confused with only a CID provided, then you have to click route priority for it to work at all as the ANY CID / ANY DID route takes over if you don’t. I would have thought a route with a CID and not ticked ‘CID route priority’ would have priority over the ANY/ANY route - guess that’s just my reasoning !.
