Is there a way to set a (global) retention period to the call recordings sitting on the system?
Not that I’m aware of. As far as I know, recordings are kept forever.
Use a cron job that removes recordings that are so many days old from the recording directory?
I don’t know of a setting that auto removes them.
The paid commercial module, Call Recording Reports allows you to manage recording retention, and generates tarballs for archives.

So for the non paid option the only control is done in the UCP?
