Call confirmation issue, leaves voicemail saying press 1 to answer

Hi all and thank you in advance.

i recently set up a free pbx to deal with a rather specific system (our old supplier provided all this but shut down)

heres the setup
did goes to call queue, call queue goes to various virtual and pjsip extensions, all of which have off pbx mobiles in the follow me.
obviously dont want to loose the call when it reaches any external mobile number voicemail, so have call confirmation press 1 to answer on which works great.

the issue i am having is if any of the mobiles are off or decline the call they are being left a 20 - 40 second voicemail telling them to press 1 to answer.
i need to find a way that the external voicemails dont accept the call at all and realise its not a call.

any advice

Lower the ring timer. That could stop it from hitting voicemail but when they decline/reject the call it sends the call to voicemail.

Part of the reason to use call confirmation is so if it ends up in a voicemail the call doesn’t stay in the voicemail.

thanks yes its doing that part of the job well, just with my last provider it didnt leave a voicemail on the 3rd party phone, im wondering if there are any outbound answering machine detection (amd) settings i can adjust but dont really know what im doing with that.

This has nothing to do with the provider. You are using Follow-Me which makes an outbound call to the destinations provided. If the call is answered in any way, including voicemail, the call confirmation announcement is played and it waits for a response. If no response is given or 2 is pressed (decline) it will continue to ring any other destinations in the list.

If a call hits a voicemail it will be an answered called and the announcement will be played.

thanks, yes i get this however my last provider using a custom build of asterisk was able to achieve this somehow?

You can do it but you would need to customize it. It isn’t something built into FreePBX.

Thank you, is it something that with a bit of guidance i can copy paste or type into the fpbx asterisk cli?

The simpler solution is to have your mobile vendor increase the number of rings before a call goes to voicemail on the mobile system.
