Call accounting code

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has any simple solutions that could be used in primarily law offices where cost recovery is used, and each call is dialed with a “code” so the accounting department can then pull a report and know how much to bill each client/matter. I was thinking of using the outbound routes, and simply stripping off the first 4-6 digits, and then send the call on down. This would allow the call to be “recorded” and then the logs can be parsed.

Anything out there to handle this already?

Thanks,

Carlos.

Asterisk has that covered. there is generally a field called accountcode in your CDR’s just set that in your newly written custom-predial-hook context to suit (check /etc/asterisk/extensions.conf for usage) , you would have to ask the lawyer to enter the “matter”, the client could be derived form the number dialed.
