Calendar Module: Fetching events from CalDAV server fails

I have been trying to setup a remote calendar via CalDAV for time conditions. Connecting to the CalDAV server works fine, I can select a calendar but if I want to view the events in the WebGUI I get an popover error from the top “There was an error fetching the events”. I haven’t been able to find anything in the logfiles.

I read about problems with mismatching timezones, however, timezones are consistent throughout in my case. I tried two different CalDAV servers, both work fine with other CalDAV clients. Any ideas how to further debug this issue?

Found the problem: the error is thrown when the calendar is empty.
