Bt cli

Hi, we’re trying to get CLI working in Asterisk so that the SIP phones will display the caller’s number instead of unknown but I’m told that Asterisk doens’t like BT CLI. I’m told we may be able to get some hardware that will sniff the lines and output the CLI on TAPI over USB or RS232 or something.

Will that work without any configuration changes to Astrisk? Is it set up to receive that input? Is there a better way?

acronyms are a bad thing when they are local to your area and not the rest or the world…

Please expand and at the same time provide some details on your hardware setup as certain setup’s can do some things others can’t.

The more details you provide up front the fewer questions we ask before we can start to help you.

By BT, I’m assuming you mean British Telecom (and not Blue tooth or Bit Torrent) ?

The CLI should present just fine, though as fskrotzki mentions, you haven’t been forthcoming about what hardware you’re using, so we don’t know if this is coming through a FXO, ISDN or an ATA.
Of course, this is assuming you have actually subscribed to BT’s Caller ID ?

Overly complicated and most likely, unnecessary. You can find most of what you need right here:
