Best practice for softphone on cellphone?

My current setup allows only traffic from my corporate offices, and from my SIP provider to FreePBX.
I am in need to provide softphones, (considering GS Wave) for people to have their extensions remotely.
Does this mean I need to allow this traffic from anywhere in the world? is there another solution to allow traffic from mobile devices?

Or setting up a VPN profile (this doesn’t have to be part of the softphone). Does the company already have VPNs that they can connect their phones to?
