Backup & restore testing

I would like to test backup & restore some more.
Is it “safe” to restore a backup of an activated system (with no paid modules involved) to an unactivated system for testing purposes?

There are NO paid modules involved.
It has the free sysadmin module and is activated.

I am unclear on backup & restore and if any deployment ID is restored on another system or if there would be any problems.

Also is it safe to restore onto a system that is activated and has a different deployment ID?

All scenarios without any paid modules and only the free sysadmin.

In the case of restoring to unactivated: this system of course does not even have the free sysadmin on it.

Everything safe? and will the deployment IDs remain separate.

I want to make sure I do not cause a conflict of any kind.

While I want the original system to remain active and activated and not develop any problems
Due to a same deployment ID showing up on a restore on different hardware.

They obviously will not go live at the same time or be put in any situation that would create an IP conflict routing conflict or fight for SIP trunks and endpoints.

Deployment IDs are tied to the MAC of the server. Restoring to another system won’t mess with the deployment IDs.

Good to know thank you.
Is this something I should have been able to read in the docs?
I will look for it and continue to do my best to find these types of answers there if they are available before bugging people on the forum.
If not I’ll just continue to ask as I try to figure things out.
Thanks again.

The section about registering your system since only registered systems have deployment ID’s.

Yep it’s in there..
It says they assign one to registered systems.

I just didn’t know if the deployment ID was generated locally before reg.
So now I think I know
