Asterisk doesnt recognise freepbx changes

hi,

i have recently made changes using freepbx on my trixbox system. freepbx accepts and shows the changes, however asterisk doesnt recognise them.

i had a hunt and for example an extension i added in freepbx which shows up there isnt in any of the asterisk config files

how does freepbx store its config? is it separate to asterisk config?
what would cause freepbx to store the config and not asterisk?

Asking the obvious first. After you make changes in FreePBX, An orange bar appears at the top of the screen “Apply Configuration Changes”. That will update the config files.
