Anyone using TuxCare ELS for covering Centos7 EOL?

Hi! Anyone is using TuxCare ELS for Centos7 on a FreePBX Distro? If yes, can you report your experience?

This is kind of my Theme today, but to save money, and get the newest security updates etc, and since debian is free, any reason why you wouldn’t just stand up Debian 12.6, install FreePBX with the install script, and restore your backup from the Backup & Restore module? You’ll get the newest security updates. All the commercial modules are available, and they are much easier to manage.

I get people just want to say just move to Debian, but it depends on how many systems people have. We have over 150 systems to migrate. Having some patched whilst they’re being migrate kind of makes sense.

SUSE and Redhat cover it too. But I think TuxCare is the cheapest afaik.

150 FreePBX servers? That’s a lot to maintain. Have you considered a multitenant solution?

More than fair. No way for me to assess how many systems one has. FreePBX 17 GA is around the corner. Was wondering if @Peo was considering it since Debian is supported as the main OS now. You can buy support if you want; it may be cheaper than Tuxcare. In all honesty, I have no idea how much Tuxcare costs, but I work in an enterprise, so based on experience, I imagine it’s costly (But once again, I have no idea). Your point about migration is fair, but that will have to be tacked regardless for the long run. FreePBX 16 will be supported for awhile (I imagine that’s the version @Peo is on). But eventually, he’ll have to move. I’m not saying run now, but since GA is around the corner, he might want to investigate now and see if it works for him.

So I have seen trixbox 2.6 systems over 15 years old still in the wild. If you practice good security practices you can simply live happily ever after in most cases. Simply making sure your system isn’t exposed to the internet should fix 98% of your concerns.

I would have moved us long ago. But sadly I don’t own the business, just a tech.
