[Amportal-devel] Amportal-devel Digest, Vol 4, Issue 19

not sure what the documentation says, but the way it ‘should’ work is:

  1. If you define a CID with the extension, that should take precedence.
  2. If there is no CID with the extension, use the trunk if defined

(assuming no emergency cid stuff or what not).

for internal calls, it will always used the defined extension and display name, so there is no reason to put “1001” as your outbound cid for extension 1001. You will already get that. The purpose of putting an outbound cid on an extension is to override what would otherwise go out - you would not want the trunk to override. it. The trunk cid is a ‘catch-all’ type cid, or a simpler way of defining the same cid for everyone in typical situations where there is only one did coming in.

The documentation tells us if we put a CID into the Trunk Configuration it should take precedence and then overwrite any CID comming form the Extension or anywhere else.

In reality, I have a CID for all my extension like 1001, 1002… and a CID for all my trunk like 613-555-1234 and if I call someone on the PSTN the CID they see is my extension “1001” instread of the CID number I placed in the trunk.

I think it is a bug…

If I dont understand something, please let me know.

Thanks.
