We need to record a long initial greeting message and repeat it to make it play twice as long because we use PSTN phone lines with an FXO gateway and the notification calls to external phone numbers won’t play the beginning of the message so we need to be sure the entire message is heard at least one time. This means that for internal SIP notifications the called extension hears a very long message two times and external calls usually hear it about 1 1/2 times.
Is there any way to allow for user input during the initial greeting once the called party recognizes the purpose of the call and knows the instructions already? If they could press “1” to hear the voice mail during the greeting that would be a help and reduce the time listening to the greeting message several times.
