After reboot, GUI can't connect to asterisk

After a reboot of a VM running Freepbx I’m seeing a ‘can’t connect to asterisk’ error in the freepbx gui.

I also can’t make or receive phone calls.

Asterisk appears to be running on the system. I can run asterisk -vvvr.

What could be wrong?

if Asterisk is running, and it’s running as the asterisk user, then the most likely problem is that the AMI credentials in Advanced settings don’t match the credentials in /etc/asterisk/manager.conf. Make them match, then if necessary, reload with:

asterisk -x "core reload"

I was able to restore a snapshot and now asterisk is working, however, after logging into the GUI for the first time it appears to have crashed. I get a browser error saying ‘this site is taking too long to respond.’

Well that is different than your previous issue. Since you didn’t troubleshoot the original issue, you need to provide some more details for your new issue.
