PBX stopped after update from 4.211 to 5.211

Hi, after updating using the wiki asterisk will not run i have checked the passwords match etc

When I run: amportal a dbug

I’m at a loss as to whats going on i can get in the GUI but i cant reload it:

Also when i run asterisk -r:

Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl exist?)

yes the ctl file exists and the permission is asterisk

What was the FreePBX Distro version your system had before the migration?
Was it FreePBX Distro 4.211.64-10 (the latest available of Track 4) or, at worst, the FreePBX Distro 4.211.64-9?
Did you then performed the migration to FreePBX Distro 5.211.65-1 using the Upgrade Script found here (the one named “upgrade-4.211.64-to-5.211.65-1.sh”)?
That Upgrade Script checks your running FreePBX Distro and performs all necessary steps to migrate the FreePBX Distro from Track 4 to Track 5 (not the latest on the Track 5, just the very first release FreePBX Distro 5.211.65-1).

Hi, it was on 4.211.64-9

i updated to 4.211.64-10

this went fine calls worked etc.

then used upgrade-4.211.64-to-5.211.65-1.sh

this is what broke the PBX. i have tried upgrade-4.211.64-to-5.211.65-2.sh hoping it may correct something but this made no effect.

The upgrade script “upgrade-4.211.64-to-5.211.65-2.sh” doesn’t exist at all, AFAIK…so I don’t understand what you tried to do after the first (migration) try.

Are you able to provide the actual status of the upgrade? check the created 5.211.65-1 log file under:


**/var/log/pbx/upgrade**

directory.

There you will find all the upgrade generated logs (various 4.211.64-x, for sure 4.211.64-9 and 4.211.64-10 and probably the 5.211.65-1).

What’s the result of (CLI) command:

or

But I’m not sure FreePBX Modules are in the picture…if Asterisk is not running (or can’t run).

on the web GUI it has error next to Asterisk. as far as i can tell asterisk cant run.

So Asterisk is stopped if you check via service asterisk status command? Try to check the mysqld deamon status too (I mean: did you perform a clean system reboot, isn’t it?).
If you force a service asterisk start (or restart), what’s about full log?

Yep a clean reboot was done after every stage of the upgrade.

What’s about executing /var/lib/asterisk/bin/retrieve_conf first as root user and the as asterisk user (with su - asterisk /var/lib/asterisk/bin/retrieve_conf)? Maybe there is an issue with password.

As root performing an amportal a r what gives you? did you forced an amportal chown command?

however this file does not exist?

In my system it doesn’t exist. Try an amportal chown. Yes, the /var/lib/asterisk/bin/retrieve_conf issued by another user (asterisk) gives me exactly the same errors like you…so I think it’s not a relevant test (the su - asterisk one I mean).

Content of /etc/hosts file? Is SELINUX disabled (I think it is if we’re working on a FreePBX Distro)? Are you 100% sure that your credentials match (AMPMGR of /etc/amportal.conf with secret of /etc/asterisk/manager.conf)?

The issue is Asterisk 11.11 has a bug where Asterisk fails to start if their is no ooh323.conf file. We have reported the bug to Digium and supplied a patch. We will have new RPMs shortly.

For the time being doing a

touch /etc/asterisk/ooh323.conf

then restart asterisk will fix your issue.
