Yealink T46S - What is the proper way to update Firmware via USB?

HI !
So… We were donated 80 of the Yealink T46S phones. We were able to successfully factory reset about 40 of them (they booted to the GUI, and we did the reset that way). Most seem to be using Firmware v 66.84.0.90

Now, we have another 40 of the phones that are stuck on the “welcome” screen. I have tried to use the USB files and force update the firmware. I have tried the original above and the 3 most recent. but I am getting an “update failed (-1)” error. and can not get past it.

WHAT are the proper file names for the file on USB ? AND, does this phone require 3 separate files or a single file ? Every time I ask this on google, their fregin AI gives me different answers (of couse because there are different answers all over the interwebs)

I have tried renaming the file to : usb_firmware_upgrade
I have tried renaming the files to T46.bin, .rfs and .rom (and all 3 at the same time)
Even on the fully functioning phones i can not get them to update from the USB. so.. apparently I just have the files or names wrong.
Does CaSe matter ?

I been messing with this for like 3 hours…
I could really use some help. Thank you.

What format was the USB in, FAT32 or NTFS? Did you try both formats?

Have you tried to factory reset these 40 phones by the button method? Power them up, hold the speakerphone button while doing a power cycle. Hold the button during the entire process until the phone reboots, there’s a welcome screen and then you should see a blue screen prompting you to press 1. Once that is done, the phone will factory reset.
