Voicemail Unactivated

We are running Freepbx 2.6 over Asterisk 1.6, and cannot access voicemail when dialing either *97 or *98.

Below is the call logs and the only warning message in the log is: [Jul 2 11:28:22] WARNING[27036] pbx.c: No application ‘MailBoxExists’ for extension (from-internal, *97, 5)

From the Voicemail Admin module, on the right hand side of the page, the extensions enabled to use voicemail are “[unactivated]”. How can we activate the voicemail boxes?

You need to post in the users forum. This forum is for issues with the website. It appears from your log that you don’t have the voicemail module installed.

My apologies, I am new to the forum and freepbx.

From freepbx web GUI, voicemail module status is “Enabled”. or does this not reflect that its installed?

if not, how can I install the voicemail module?

Look in Module Admin.

Bill

As I said, the Voicemail Module status is “Enabled and Up to date”.

I cannot access voicemail, due to the error in the log file that states “[Jul 2 11:28:22] WARNING[27036] pbx.c: No application ‘MailBoxExists’ for extension (from-internal, *97, 5)”

Any clues to what the error means?

You need to open up a shell via SSH to you Asterisk server. From there you type ‘asterisk -r’ and when you get a prompt like ‘CLI>’ you type ‘module show like voicemail’, you should get something like:

Module Description Use Count
app_hasnewvoicemail.so Indicator for whether a voice mailbox ha 0
app_voicemail.so Comedian Mail (Voicemail System) 0
2 modules loaded

The output is “0 modules loaded”.

How do I load the voicemail module via shell?
