Voicemail is skipping to the next message without playing the message

My system:
PBX Version:13.0.197.31
PBX Distro: 4.211.64-3
Asterisk Version: 11.3.0

I have several extensions where the voicemail works fine. The user can dial *97 and manage their email no problem as well as listen to each message.

On this new extension, The user recorded creating works fine. Callers can leave a message, the message count goes up. It will even forward the message as an attachment in email, but when they press to listen to the first message, it just skips and goes to the next prompt, to delete or get the next message. All the messages do the same thing. There are 40 messages on it now and the user can’t listen to any of them. The log shows the prompts and says it’s playing …/INBOX/msg0000.slin but it just skips.

I’m thinking the directory or file is locked or security is preventing access. I haven’t tried to reboot the server yet. I will try that tonight.

Would like a call log - https://wiki.freepbx.org/display/SUP/Providing+Great+Debug#ProvidingGreatDebug-AsteriskLogs-PartII

But also, check permissions in that voicemail directory

ls -al /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/100

where 100 is the extension where the voicemail is.

More diagnostic info with

ls -al /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/100/*/*

All are owned by asterisk asterisk. The txt files are -rw-rw-rw-
The wav files are -rw-r–r--
There is a pair of each, a wav and a txt file.

but how big are they ?, can you not just paste the requested output of the extended ls command? ( no mind-readers here)

the files are too short to be hearable

soxi /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/10651/INBOX/*.wav
cat /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/10651/INBOX/*.txt

please use pastebin for readability

Yes, a lot of them are 3244 KB, including msg0000.wav, which the call example includes. Some of them look like they are a larger size which could well include properly recorded audio. Would like a call example of someone leaving a message that ends up like this.

Thanks. That turned out to be the problem. Almost all of them were abandoned calls. When I got to a message that had content, they played without issue.
