VM Broken, Login to IP not working properly

Clueless here…Our system was set up by a company that is no longer in business, Our VM is not working correctly, I can log into the IP for our server on the internet but when I select anything (menu item, save the current page, anything) all I get is the login page again.
When I first log in, there are a slew of messages about modules that need to be updated and in the system status section it says ASTERISK on the first line and ERROR on the second line.
We were going to try restarting the FreePBX server but with not being able to get to the page we are stumped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you can log into the server using SSH, try that.

I’m pretty sure we can get you back in control in a reasonable period.
