Virtual extension incoming external calls not visible in UCP

I have setup a virtual extension that then goes to a custom destination. The ultimate goal is to have all calls to the virtual extension recorded.

To review recording I would like to use the UCP, This works great on internal calls (they show in call events) however if the call is external incoming nothing shows up for the call in either call history or call events.

This is in FreePBX 14.0.1.36 with asterisk 13.19.1 if it helps.
Hopefully someone has some idea what I’m missing.
