Upgrade Scripts Forum Gone?

Hello all,

I just upgraded the FreePBX console from the previous version to 2.10.1.2.

However, as everyone knows, this does not update Asterisk. I’m running Asterisk version 1.8.7.1.

There are many posts I’ve found about going to an address here in the forum to download update scripts - but all I get is a blank forum page that shows up with nothing in there.

The link repeatedly used - and is even on the FreePBX upgrade instruction page under the distribution download is:

http://www.freepbx.org/forum/freepbx-distro/distro-discussion-help/stable-release-versions

Did this move recently? I saw a post just about 20 days ago referencing this same address - and it doesn’t seem to show anything.

Thank you!

Still there, only stable has upgrade scripts:

Thanks for the reply. I just found them - stupid me.

I ran:

[[email protected] ~]# cat /etc/asterisk/freepbxdistro-version
1.87.29.55-2

And so I found the script I need to start with. A long way to go!

OK - next question.

Once I get done with all of the update scripts on this page:

http://www.freepbx.org/forum/freepbx-distro/distro-discussion-help/freepbx-distro-1-8xx-210-58-releases-end-of-life-release

What is the next post I need to use to continue the update process?

What do you mean “done with the scripts” ?

You downloaded and executed the scripts? If so you are done.

Have you seen this blog post?

Thank you for that post.

so it appears that I’m stuck with the Asterisk version 1.8.x since I’m using that setup.

So in order to get the absolute latest version of FreePBX and Asterisk, I need to do a ‘backup and restore’ and make a backup of the system - is that correct? Then I can download the ISO, re-setup the server, and then restore the FreePBX data?

Well, yes but here is the real rub.

You have to restore to the same version FreePBX so you better do it quick before you can’t get 1.10 and FreePBX 2.10

In FreePBX 2.10 the Berkley/AstDB is gone and everything is in MySQL. No going back once you jump off that cliff.

Appreciate the replies.

So if I understand right, would this work:

  1. Do a backup of the current system

  2. Download the 1.1010.210.62 ISO from:
    http://www.schmoozecom.com/distro-download.php

  3. Complete the restore

Pardon the ignorance - but I just re-read that post you provided me.

CentOS appeears to be updated from 5.x to 6.x in all of the new ISOs.

So the next step would be to actually do a backup and restore, download the 1.8 ISO and setup the server - then restore. This pushes me to the newer tracks using the 6.2 CentOS.

But the question still remains how to then go from Asterisk 1.8.x on CentOS 6.2 to Asteris 1.10 on CentOS 6.2. I will make a complete ‘fsarchiver’ image of the PBX after the CentOS 6.2 upgrade just in case I need to go back to it.
