Upgrade from FreePBX 2.2.1 to 2.3.1 with Backup/Restore?

I’m looking at upgrading my TrixBox 2.2 to 2.2.9, which means I’ll be going from FreePBX 2.2.1 to 2.3.1

Unfortunately, TrixBox doesn’t upgrade, it’s a clean install every time.

Can I do a FreePBX backup on my old system and a restore on my new one and save all my extensions, routes, trunks, etc, etc, etc, or do I have to document them all and rebuild them from scratch?

Many thanks!

You must backup and restore from the same versions. Upgrade FreePBX in place on your old system to the same version that you will be running on the new system, then do a backup and restore once the new system is upgraded.

since the base OS is the same for those versions of trixbox just yum update everything. It will pull down the new updates and install them. You should be set.

Only possible issue(s) will be a real old zaptel might not easly update, if you get a dependency error see: http://www.trixbox.org/wiki/zaptel-not-loading-2-2-x

I’ve also heard issues using the trixbox update not getting freepbx updated. Reboot twice first (Don’t ask me why but it works some times). otherwise just go to the download section and download the latest and install it. you’ll be good to go.

I’ve done boxes both ways and they are the same.
