Up up... Help me in configuring LG iPECS phone + FreePBX

Hi,

I have installed a FreePBX in my house. Yesterday, I bought an IP Phone (LG iPECS LIP-8008E) and tried to connect it to my PBX but not success. Today I searched on the internet very much and found some bad news like this: iPECS phones work on iPECS platform (I don’t know what it is), so I’m wondering that whether my phone can work with my FreePBX?

Please help me in solving this problem.

Is the phone SIP compliant?

As my best knowledge, it is compliant with iPECS protocol (a higher protocol developed by LG-Ericsson).
Here is something I found on the internet: “Unlike standard SIP phone, the proprietary iPECS protocol provides fully integrated system features just like the conventional feature rich PBX solution”.
Maybe it’s not compliant with SIP…

Asterisk supports SIP, H.323, MGCP and SCCP (to a lesser extent) There is also a Nortel MICS/Definity channel driver floating around.

If you stray from common SIP phones you need to be very knowledgeable of Asterisk and VoIP in general.

Hi, Mr SkykingOH.
I bought a secondhand phone, cisco 7940G. I spent 2 days to try to get it work with my FreePBX but not success.
Here is my procedure:
1, Enable Endpoint Manager in FreePBX
2, Configure tftp and dhcp server (with option 66) on the same computer to my PBX
3, Enable Cisco 7940, 7960 branch in Endpoint Manager
4, Connect the phone to my network, reset the phone
5, Check tftp log, it showed 2 below lines infinitely:

asterisk in.tftpd[4025]: RRQ from 192.168.0.75 filename CTLSEP00141CAA4C13.tlv
asterisk in.tftpd[4026]: RRQ from 192.168.0.75 filename SEP00141CAA4C13.cnf.xml

Here is ls /tftpboot:
