UCP failed logins add IP to fail2ban and blocks the remote phone

Our end user keeps getting his phone line blocked by fail2ban when the secretary enters the UCP passcode wrong. Instead of blocking UCP access for their IP, fail2ban blocks the IP for everything so all their phone lines go down.

Assuming that we can not change the end user behaviour, what can we do on our end to prevent this?

Add the forgetful user’s IP to the Intrusion Detection white list, Admin, System Admin, Intrusion Detection. You could try also increasing the Max Retry parameter as well.

I white listed the IP but it’s dynamic and may change.
I also increased the Max Retry parameter but don’t want to go too far.

Too bad the blocking mechanism can’t separate the phone line from the UCP login.
