Trunk sip authentication

Bonjour,

I have the following problem.

I have a trunk between Asterisk and an pbx Alcatel.

No problem, I can call and receive.

but I noticed a strange thing.

disallow=all
allow=all
context=from-internal
username=trunkoxe
type=peer
dtmfmode=auto
secret=yyyyyyyyy
qualify=yes
nat=yes
insecure=very
host=x.x.x.x
fromuser=trunkoxe
fromdomain=x.x.x.x
call-limit=50

If I modify the password only Alcatel side, I can always call. How it possible?

I try with a softphone. Whith Xlite when I desable the registration and use only the username, I can always call.

I don’t understand what is the “secret” configuration, obviously whatever the password to operate it continuously.

I hope someone can enlighten me.

It looks like you might be referring to the Secret for an Extension. In Asterisk the secret you enter for an extension allows that extension to connect and place calls through Asterisk.
