Sunday Morning restart failures

Every Sunday morning at around 04:02 I find that Asterisk has been shut down, the log file rename to full.1 but Asterisk is not restarted.

What is responsible for log rotation? I’m using Trixbox so maybe it is that? However, if it’s Freepbx I’m not sure where to look.

/etc/cron.weekly

This si the time that scripts in that area fire. You could try selectively removing them and seeing if that makes a difference. Also you can use webmin to look at all of the cron jobs and see if there is a problem there. Is there nothing in your log files? What version of TB are you using? 2.2x or 2.3Beta

I found it: cron.daily/logrotate.

In /etc/logrotate.conf is:

/var/log/asterisk/*log /var/log/asterisk/full {
weekly
nomail
prerotate
/usr/sbin/amportal stop
endscript
postrotate
/usr/sbin/amportal start
endscript
sharedscripts
}

Unfortunately, I’ve found that amportal does not wait for asterisk to terminate before it tries to restart - therefore it issues the restart too early.

At least I can fix it now :slight_smile:
