Stuck on Initial Setup page for FreePBX on Ubuntu

Hi everyone,

I used to install FreePBX 16 on Ubuntu 22 and 24 using this guide: https://groups.google.com/g/chan_dongle/c/EROaAi-GoUs
It was working fine for basic media relay functionality, suddenly it stops working and gets stuck at the Initial Setup page, clicking on Setup button does not effect.
My last installation worked perfectly just before about 2-3 weeks.

I checked the logs and found out these:
2025-10-20T03:30:01.549544+03:00 ubuntu24 mariadbd[897]: 2025-10-20 3:30:01 32 [Warning] Aborted connection 32 to db: ‘asteriskcdrdb’ user: ‘freepbxuser’ host: ‘localhost’ (Got an error reading communication packets),
But when I tried the user and pass in amportal.conf it worked fine.
I checked almost all the log files but can not find any usefull error staff, could any one help me to debug this?

Howdy! Welcome back to the forums.

The latest FreePBX 17 runs on Debian 12 with the official installer shell script. There is also an ISO. Are you able to try either of those instead ?

Thanks for the response.

The main usage of the guide is to run chan_dongle on FreePBX, and for some reason, chan_dongle is stable on Ubuntu not on CentOS.

chan_dongle is not tested on higher versions of Asterisk than Asterisk 18. but FreePBX on debian uses Asterisk 22

I came up with a solution, I copied the whole admin folder from old working machine, and replaced the new one, and worked.

I tried to examine the differences between them to figure out the root cause, but I got no time to do.

If any one is interested to check, I will leave this here for it.

basically what I did is initiating a git repo in /var/www/html/admin folder after clean installation, then replaced with old admin and pushed the differences.
