Slow page load > Azure - Standard B1ms / vCPUs 1 / RAM 2 GiB > Fresh install of FreePBX v17 on Debian v12

Hi everyone.

Azure - Standard B1ms / vCPUs 1 / RAM 2 GiB
NSG set to allow * access from my IP
Fresh install of FreePBX v17 on Debian v12
Source image publisher: debian
Source image offer: debian-12
Source image plan: 12-gen2
Install script runs without errors
WebUI setup > I am aborting the firewall to rule out issues there

The web pages load super slowly > 40 seconds for basic info but it’s somewhat inconsistent
SSH and ping times don’t show any network issue
Multiple sources/internet connections same issue
Chrome developer doesn’t show any errors, just shows the 40 second ‘initial connection’
/var/log/apache2/ logs don’t register the request until its returned via browser
sudo tcpdump -i eth0 ‘tcp port 80’ -vvv -A … is a bit hard to parse … not sure that the request is being received by the VM in realtime

deleted and started again … same issue
I’ve reviewed everything in Azure and don’t see anything that would impact this …
not sure where else to look

real head scratcher for me.

2 GB???

What does “top” show at the command line as far as memory utilization.

It’s probably swapping itself to death.
