Simple Question - Change Linked URL in Extension Mapping?

I recently found the ‘Extension Mapping IP Addresses’ option under the Global Setting in Endpoint Manager. While slowing up the loading of the extension mapping page by maybe a couple of seconds, it’s saved me considerable time looking up what IP a given extension is at.

The one annoyance I have with this feature is that the link for the IP on this page links to http:// Where do I go or what do I change to get this to change to link to https:// instead???

Hi @RealRuler2112

Good point. Todays world it should use https by default.

Just now pushed new endpoint manager module so please give a try with latest edge release.

Best Regards
Kapil

Thank you Kapil. I do have a few questions for you though:

We are stuck on version 13 due to us not wanting to lose the high availability feature we were sold after it was already being sunsetted. Will the new endpoint manager edge release install or pose any issues on this version? (I accepted long ago that we’re not going to get updates, but assumed that this was just a setting in the brand somewhere that I was missing.) I certainly do not expect you to have tested all the changes made to the EPM between then & now on such an old version of PBXact; if I install the new edge release of EPM & it causes issues, is there a way to revert back to what’s currently installed? (Other than doing a full backup of the hard drive before installing, which would be overkill to eliminate a simple annoyance.) Is there a way to update/test it by doing a simple file replacement so I could easily roll it back if there are problems?

Hi @RealRuler2112

FreePBX versions 13 and 14 have reached End of Life quite some time ago. Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide a fix for version 13 at this point.

We strongly recommend considering an upgrade to a supported version to ensure continued stability, security, and access to updates.

Best regards,
Kapil

Disappointing, but not unexpected when you said it wasn’t a setting. (Given what happened during the sales process, we are more likely to jump to a different PBX software than upgrade.) Less understandable is why this wasn’t originally built as a simple string setting in the brand page.

Hope that my bringing up & your making this change eliminates this annoyance for someone else. Thank you for your time Kapil.

The HA module never worked right. There is a reason is was sunset so quickly and had such a short lifespan. It was riddled with bugs and constant issues. There’s no real value in keeping yourself on highly outdated OS and software that opens you up to very well known vulnerabilities. Not to mention zero support.

You’d be better off upgrading and using Advanced Recovery.

You’ve told me this before Tom. Management is unwilling to abandon the significant investment in extra hardware and software when the HA has saved us several times in the past. (Not to mention giving more money to the company that sold us a product they knew wouldn’t be around long.) There is at least one other popular asterisk-based PBX that still has HA support using the same mechanisms as PBXact did with some pretty nice scripts to ease administration / recovery. Like I said in my last message, we’d probably look hard at migrating to that product first due to Sangoma sales treating us how they did years ago.
