I’m getting ready to move my server from KVM to VMWare. The conversion tools do a great job, but work better on a quiesced system. How do I shut down Asterisk and MySQL while leaving the server itself up for the conversion?
At the console:
service asterisk stop
service mysql stop
You know that you’re phones will be off while you are doing that, right?

Yes, I know the phones will be off. Planning to do it late night or weekend.
Just wanted to make sure - the way your question was worded kind of made it sound like you still wanted the PBX to be on while it was off, and it confused me.
All good. What I meant was the server, as in the Linux box, needs to be up. Services that can potentially modify files are better shut down for consistency.
