Several questions regarding upgrading trixbox

OK, Most of you that have seen my posts know that I am newbie, but not at all shy about learning. Over the last month I have been able to build a “functional” trixbox ce at home, and have become much more at ease and familiar with the operation of it.

That said, I have finally found the time (and the nerve) to start thinking about the upgrade of my current (at work) trixbox ce. Bear in mind that this is a production system (about 30 extensions) and I can’t afford to have it unavailable for any length of (businesshours) time. It has one incoming T1. I do have another hardware platform available to me that is similar to my current one. See my current versions below.

I have looked through the forum and seen many comments regarding certain revs of trixbox not being the best choice. O combinations of various modules. I find it somewhat confusing.

Over all my questions are:

  1. What is the best way to go about the upgrade? Should I do an “in-place /online” upgrade? One module at a time? Several modules at once? Neither? Should I use the new box that I have available to me? (I like this idea for fall-back reasons).

  2. If I do a new install off of the trixbox ce ISO cd to the new box, and do all the upgrades to current levels, is it as simple as doing a backup of the original box and a restore to the new one?

  3. Are the backups compatible?

  4. What info does a “backup” contain ? Does it have the entire configuration ? Does it have my data (voicemails, recorded messages etc?

  5. If not how do I go about migrating the info from one box to the other?

Thanks for any help, suggestions or guidance you may be able to provide.

Paul….

Thanks

This isn’t the trixbox support forum. If you ‘untrix’ it and run the current FreePBX I am sure you will get some assistance.

If you want to stick with trixbox their forums may yield more help for you.

Thank you sky. Apparently that is what I was missing.

Tnx
