I had someone update our production machine to 2.6 rc 2 without know what they were doing (yes in process of removing their fingers). Can someone outline the best way to revert back to last stable release? Can I just reload my nightly backup?

2.6rc2 is stable. It has not been bumped to 2.6 final simple because we are waiting on a potential new fax module (which will be optional so you won’t have to install it). We are just determining if there is any minor changes in core or framework we will need to support the module.
If you are having problems with 2.6, what are they?
As far as reverting, a backup is going to be your only way as there are some significant schema changes.
