I have noticed that by default asterisk allows multiple registration of the same extension. Is there anyway to restrict this?

It doesn’t allow multiple registrations; when an endpoint registers on an extension, any previous endpoints are unregistered. You’re looking to block endpoints from registering if the extension already has an active registration from a different endpoint? I don’t know that there’s any way to do that. Certainly nothing in FreePBX.
