In the process of troubleshooting an issue with our PBX, we did a full backup and reloaded a clean FreePBX install to the same machine. It turns out the issue was with our SIP provider so this was all done for naught but nevertheless we now must bring the system back to its original configuration.
When attempting a restore, everything appears to work properly - our backup file shows up, we select full restore, but nothing happens. No errors but no configuration is actually restored either.
In web searches, we found a recommendation that before performing the restore, you first do a backup and then replace the backup file with the original you actually want to use. We did this and found no change.
We made the problem worse by manually un-tarring the configurations backup file. Now Asterisk does not load and we get the following error:
“retrieve_conf failed, config not applied
Reload failed because retrieve_conf encountered an error: 1
Added 2 hours, 30 minutes ago
(freepbx.RCONFFAIL”
I’m not really concerned about this, I can easily reload the system again but if anyone could offer any insight on the restore issue, I would appreciate it.
