I too would like to find out more information on the RESTful API and what it takes to make a module. I know there are modules that people would like to have and it would be nice to be able to fill that request.

The RestAPI module is commercially licensed and the source is currently not available. Therefore there is nothing to learn about in regards to “how to make a module” for it
As it stands now the RestAPI module is only used for RestAPPs for Phones.
