Remote Installation

Hi

Is it possible to setup TWO REMOTE Offices with FreePBX on a server in each office utilizing one VOIP Provider ?

  1. Office-1 having a FreePBX Server which accesses its own VOIP Provider

2A - Office-2 having also having a FreePBX Server which accesses Office-1’s VOIP Provider
or…
2B - Office-2 having NO FreePBX Server which accesses Office-1’s VOIP Provider directly thru IP

WIll Office-2 need to have it own FreePBX Server - will it work with Office-1’s Server ?

Any Suggestions is helpful

Thank you
Walt

Walt,

Yes, you can route calls from one FreePBX server to another.

Yes, you can have remote extensions on a FreePBX server, but be careful about bandwidth here. If you have a lot of extensions in the remote office, you may want them to have their own server. I have an installation with 6 remote extensions and it works just fine, but I would not want to do say 20.

I would tend to put a server at each location, then trade with a VOIP provider like Aretta.com who will give multiple trunks on one account. Then, you have all of your VOIP calls going out from the location they originated from, without using the resources of the other office’s server.
