Recording quality

When record customer greetings, voice for the the first 1-3 sec is always light. After that, voice volumn return to normal. This happens to all recording either in FreePBX or in VM greetings, or leaving VM. I check at my phone, and the “silence suppression” is off. Could this be a trick of the FreePBX itself?

I hope to be able to record voice with even volumn.

This would not be related to FreePBX as Asterisk is what is handling all the medial. There is a gain setting on the general tab you could try to play with but if the voice starts out low and then picks up it almost sounds like some sort of gain control happening somewhere.

I see. I checked my General Setting in FreePBX, yes, “Use gain when recording the voicemail message (optional)” is set to +4

I though it would affect VM message recording only. Looks like it affects system recording.

After I remove it, the dramatic fade-in effect is gone. A very tiny bit fade-in still in, but hard to feel.

Thanks for the direction.

hmm - you may want to look hared to see what really fixed things. I am fairly sure that this only effect voicemail. It simply results in a gain parameter being passed to the voicemail command when someone is sent to leave a message. So something else must have ‘fixed’ your situation for system recordings.
