Procedure for changing Country

Hi

I am using FreePBX 2.3.1.0

I am in the UK and would like to change the country information which is used in a number of places in the configuration. For example I think it is used to determine the opermode/PSTN telephone tone frequencies and patterns and it is automatically generated into the Zaptel.conf (loadzone and defaultzone).

I notice there is an indications.conf which has country configuration. I have changed this to “country=uk”, but despite this the FXO card still seems to be picking up the “FCC” fxo mode. From /var/log/messages…

Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Zaptel Version: 1.2.22.1
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Zaptap registered ‘sample’ char driver on major 33
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Registered Tormenta2 PCI
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:09.0[A] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Freshmaker version: 73
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Freshmaker passed register test
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Module 0: Installed – AUTO FXS/DPO
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Module 1: Not installed
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Module 2: Not installed
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Module 3: Installed – AUTO FXO (FCC mode)
Jan 9 10:26:08 asterisk1 kernel: Found a Wildcard TDM: Wildcard TDM400P REV I (2 modules)

I need to run this box within the UK so I need to change the FXO mode from “FCC” to “TBR21” for Europe.

What is the correct procedure to change the country of operation of a FreePBX asterix box ?

Thanks
Marty

Hi,

you need to pass ‘opermode=UK’ to the zaptel driver module.

There are also a few other things you can tweak for UK / EU compatibility;
I did a post on here a few days ago with full details of UK settings, have a look towards the end of this thread:

Many thanks for the info.
