Problem trying to use pre-recorded VM greetings

Hi
Running FreePBX 2.11.0.11, Asterisk 11.3.0 on CentOS 6.4.

I want to use pre-recorded greetings for the busy and unavailable greetings for some VM boxes. However, I am just getting the standard system ‘Please leave a message after the tone…’ message.

I have created the VM mailbox in FreePBX. I then accessed the mailbox via a handset and recorded a busy and unavailable message. These are heard for incoming calls to the VM box.

I loaded the Prerecorded messages into Audacity (on Windows 8.1)and exported them as 8,000Hz WAV (Microsoft) signed 16bit PCM files. These I uploaded to the server via FTP and then copied them to the /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/ folder. I then used sox to output the WAV, wav and GSM formats for the busy and unavailable.

After doing this I tried calling into the VM box and instead of hearing the recordings I uploaded or the ones I created via the handset I am hearing the standard ‘Please leave a message after the tone…’ message.

Can someone please tell me where I am going wrong. As much details as possible as I am reasonably new to Linux and Asterisk.

Thanks
Antony

Make sure asterisk is the owner of the imported files

Yes I have done that and it is.
Thanks for the suggestion.
