Polycom on freePBX lagging

I have a new installation of FreePBX, fully patched and modules up to date.

Have over 70 Polycom VVX 301 phones distributed across a dozen physical locations. All phones are remote to PBX server. Phones are registered and working… most of the time.

Users complain about random “weird” behaviour:

  • Laggy dialing, user dials number but phone takes a long time to respond and delays dialing number, sometimes burst dial it.
  • Unable to put caller on hold or transfer, soft key not even displaying.
  • Phone will dial random numbers when not in use, like a ghost is dialing.

These situations happen randomly, and still happen even after factory resetting phone.

Has anyone else experienced these kinds of issues?

We put out a couple of Aastra phones out to test and they have none of these issues, even while Polycom phones are. So it is an issue with the Polycoms, or their configuration or FreePBX simply doesn’t like them.

This forum is my last chance before having to replace 70+ Polycom phones. Customer is not going to be happy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Long story short, in each extension under Advanced, set Aggregate MWI to yes.

Thanks for the reply. I have made the change on some extensions and waiting to see if it resolves the problem…
