P370 - FreePBX 17 issues

Just did a fresh Debian 12 install on my ESXI server and ran the FreePBX17 install script. Installed without a hitch. I set static IP to match same as our office production FreePBX16 deployment, took a current FBX16 backup and shut that server down.

Restored the backup to the new FBX17 deployment and that went just fine. I got my P370 and Snom M900 and M series handsets all working just fine on FBX17.

Two issues with the P370… Favorites are no longer showing on my P370. When I click on Favorites it says setup in the user portal… Went back and checked my P series template for this phone and check line keys, all my favorites that used to show on my P370 before the move to FBX17 are still there. Also, when I click on Contacts, no contacts are showing. Says “Oh no! Contact not found. Sorry, try searching again.”

Voicemail and Call Logs and Park all working just fine.

Also, my background image is not showing on the P370 which worked perfectly fine before moving to FBX17. image has no spaces in the name and is showing on the template for this phone just like it was before the upgrade…

Anyone run into these issues on FBX17??

P370 fw 4_19_2

Hi @defcomllc

No known issue as such, however we will try to test again in our lab to ensure all good.

Do you think its backup & restore issue then actually provisioning the phone? Did you cross checked if the new PBX 17 has got all the configurations and background images ?

Im actually not sure. I did default the phone and let it pull a brand new config and provision, zero change. Favorites and Contacts missing and no background image.

Confirmed the background image is indeed in Image Management, confirmed favorites are all still there. Confirmed the template that the P370 is set to is still pointing to the background image…

Hi @defcomllc ,
The Contact and Favorites file will store under /tftpboot directory with name of “extension-1.xml” and “extension-1-blf.xml”
If you could include /tftpboot directory while taking a backup on 16 then it will be restored same to v17 which might be missing in your case.

To fix this, just Goto → Endpoint–>Extension mapping page, select all extension check box and select “Save, Rebuild Config and Update Phones” option to generate the new config file and load them to phones, then give a try.

I already did the Save, Rebuild Config and Update Phones numerous times. Still no contacts or favorites… Did it 5x before even posting this thread and after. I even tried factory defaulting the P370 after Save, Rebuild Config and Update Phones and it pulls the config and phone is working fine but still no Background image, Contacts or Favorites.

I even deleted all my images from Image Management, selected “None” for background image in the Sangoma>P370 phone template and then selected the newly uploaded image and saved then again did a Save, Rebuild Config and Update phones then plugged phone in and let it pull the config file again. Same result, those items are still missing and background image still doesnt work…

Do you see the contact xml file on /tftpboot/ directory ?

I just left my office to head to a client I’ll check the directory for the contact file when I get back to the office in a few hours and report back

So I just logged into the deployment and checked /tftpboot/ directory and no, those xml files are not listed… here is everything in /tftboot

My apology, yes they are in there…

I misread your last post too quickly. I was looking for .xml file named exactly as you typed but after reading it again, you were stating I should be looking for a file named the extension# in question so 101-1.xml

So yes, they are in there… Sorry, have 50 things going on right now.

Alright, I deleted my P370 extension Extension Mapping, template, etc.

I re-set everything back up from scratch, defaulted the P370 and it has pulled config and we now have background image. Favorites is showing correctly now (has a little grey circle with ? next to each phone number) but they are there now and working. Contacts does not show my FreePBX contacts, it shows my favorites, exactly like the Favorites button on the phone. Favorites show in Contacts and Favorites.

Not sure why that is or how to fix that or why thats happening… But thats the update…

Blocking out names and numbers, you can see my favorites are appearing in both Contacts and Favorites now on the P370… My actual FreePBX contacts are missing in contacts…

Hi @defcomllc
Its appears as a settings issue, please ensure Endpoint manager → template → Display Contact Group settings are proper,

Then goto Userman–> Contact manger on user level or group level Viewable Contact Manager Groups are selected userman group to display FreePBX contacts, once done, make sure config is rebuild and update to phone

At the very least, if its a settings issue then backup and restore from 16 to 17 broke it as everything was fully functional on 16 right before the backup and restore…

Ill check those settings and see

So in “Endpoint manager → template → Display Contact Group settings” it was set to “ALL” but was only showing Line keys… I changed it to Internal and saved, update and reload and still its just showing line keys

I went to Userman–> Contact manger and checked Viewable Contact Manager Groups and groups from my FreePBX16 deployment are not showing in Groups here in FreePBX 17. So the FBX16 restore in this FBX17 deployment did not come over or restore properly. That is the issue…

Well, I see there was a new P370 fw 4_23_2. I updated the fw which the phone said failed 3 or 4 times on the screen trying to update fw via EPM then it finally updated the 4th try…

Once phone booted back up, contacts and favorites are working properly but background image disappeared again. Just a black screen. Nothing changed at all in FreePBX, no template changes, nothing. So no clue why the background image, which was working just fine before the FW update is now gone…

Well I went into the template, removed the image, saved and rebuild. I then went back in, selected the background image again and saved. Rebuild and Update and background image is back.

Screwy and weird but its fixed. Still not sure I want to upgrade some of my larger deployments to 17 yet with these phone issues after installing 17 and doing a restore…

Hi @defcomllc May be its better we can try to use your backup file to restore locally to reproduce the issues you are facing so it will help us to fix them asap. Ideally as you said Backup & Restore should be able to restore most of the settings so not sure what is going on in your case.

Is it possible for you to raise commercial module support ticket so we can directly connect to your system to check this further? Please DM me your support case number for me to follow internally.

Thanks
