Outbound route selection

We are using FreePBX 2.2.0 with Asterisk 1.2.14. We have two companies operating from the same system and need to assign certain outbound trunks to certain extensions.

In other words, we need a way of making sure that outbound calls from extension 101 thru 105 use Outbound Route #1 and all other extensions use Outbound Route #2.

I know that we could modify the dial plan so that a prefix of 8 hits Route #1 and 9 hits Route #2, but I would really prefer to keep the dialplan simple.

Is there any existing way to do this with FreePBX 2.2.0?

Thanks!

Change the context for each set of extensions to a custom context. Do
something clever in the custom context, eg prefix a digit. Then jump
back into your main dialplan
